Holy Moley!!

I can't even believe it!! I still tear up sometimes just thinking about how lucky I am right now...

Last week, about Monday or so, I got an email from Dax Moy's website, directing me to this post on his blog; http://dailydoseofdax.blogspot.com/2009/06/human-fat-loss-guinea-pigs-wanted-lose.html.

Well, I left a comment, because I have wanted to get in on his Look Good Naked Challenge in the past, but never had the extra money to do it. I have been thinking about jumping in and doing something for quite a while now; I'm tired of my body, and I want to change it. Not only do I want to look good (obviously, that's what everyone wants) but I want a body I can depend on. I don't want bad joints, I don't want bad posture, or a bad back; I want to be as fit and active and able to do whatever I want for as long as I am alive; I have seen first hand too many times what lack of exercise can do to you (and on the flip side, I've seen those women who are 60 who have exercised their whole lives, and look like they are 40). I've seen the benefits, and I know that I need to be in the "fit at 60" category, and not like my grandmother (or mother) and bedridden at 50 (or dead at 45).

I think it is something every woman goes through after having a baby; its almost like you are given free-range for 9 months to "let go", and then you have the baby, and your world is upside down, and you have to get used to the whole new addition, and the new routine. Things were almost extra crazy around here; my husband was laid off for 6 months, finally went back to work, and then 2 weeks later was put on a third shift schedule; which means he works midnight till 7 am. So he sleeps all day. This schedule has been wearing on me a lot; and right now, in the dead heat of summer (not really, I'm sure it will get hotter around here, heat index is only about 106) our AC is still broken, which makes it hard to cook, or be in any other room of the house besides the one he is sleeping in.

Well, after commenting on his blog, and waiting the whole week, I finally checked the blog on Saturday (after not getting an email with the results), and ....

I WAS PICKED!!!

I cannot believe it. I just, I can't believe. It was shaking, I was trying not to cry so I could see what I was doing; I had to go through ALL the comments to make sure I was the only Amanda, lol, and then I sent an email to verify my status.

Now, I'm on his group, and I'm spending today getting ready for the challenge.

So, anyway, I've started a new blog to follow that challenge; come visit me some time, cheer me on my way ;)
