The birth of Lauryn Isabella

I haven't spent much time on the puter lately, so I'll make this fast

The only thing I can say about Monday is that I didn't have any contractions, lol. I had been having contractions off and on since New Years, so I've spent all month thinking "any day now", and then Monday was relatively uneventful. So, I woke up at 1 oclock in the morning, early Tuesday, with stomach pains, and needing to go to the bathroom. After 20-30 mins, and noticing that my contractions were about a minute apart, I was feeling like we needed to go to the hospital. I didn't want to go in early; I hated laboring in that bed for hours with my first DD. So, I turn on a few lights, and I'm sitting in my computer chair, trying to get myself ready (it was hard moving around and getting stuff with contractions so close together). I was about to wake up hubby, when he woke up because of the lights. He gets up to go to the bathroom, and I said "so you about ready to go?" and of course, him being a man, "go where?"

So, we call the necessary people (the ones who said call no matter what time), and he's helping me gather up my stuff so I can get dressed and stuff, he's waking up kids and getting them ready, and we finally leave to go to the hospital. It was about 2:20 when we walked in. My sister and neighbor were already there; they had beat us to the hospital so we left the kids with them in the waiting room while I walked back to L&D desk to check in. I think its weird, they don't ask me any questions or anything, they just get my information, sign some papers, and then take me back to the room where they leave you to labor before they move you into the delivery room. I was getting on the bed, moving ever so slowly because I'm still having contractions, and the nurse checked me, and was like, OMG, your an 8! and I feel the bag bulging, and right about then it popped. So they are all freaking out because first, I walked up to L&D at an 8, and second, I was an 8, lol.

So they move me into a delivery room, call the doc, try to get everything set up, etc. My sister comes in to be in there with us. Soon, I was getting the urge to bear down with my contractions, and the doc wasn't there yet, so I told my hubby to go get a nurse, cause I needed to push. She comes in and says "the doc will be here soon" (Um, that's great, so will the baby! Why don't people listen to the mamas in labor?) so about that time, he walks in, and he's all calm and nice, shaking everyone's hand and introducing himself (he wasn't my doc, he was just a doc in the same practice) and he's getting his gown on, and mask, and gloves, and about that time, I was getting another contraction. He was standing right in front of me, so I figured he was ready, lol. My groans changed to screams, and I pushed her out. I had my eyes closed, was concentrating on her, and the feeling and everything else. NO one told me to stop (like they did with my son, once his head was out, they said "stop pushing!") so I just kept going until I felt the relief of having delivered. Apparently, no one was paying any attention to me, and didn't notice that I had just delivered my baby. My husband and sister both said they thought the doc was going to drop her, and DH said he was trying to play it cool, but he was flustered at not having noticed, lol. So they squeegie out her nose and mouth, and then he tries to unwrap the cord (it was wrapped around her twice, and it was also pulled into a knot) before he handed her to me; and that's that. I'm in love with my little girl, and she was born an hour after walking into the hospital. After the doc handed her to me, he said "that was literally a 1 push delivery!" lol.

She was born at 3:28 am on Tuesday, 01/20/2009. She weighed 7 lbs and 14 ounces (she's my "middle" child; my daughter was 1 lb lighter, and my son was 1 lb heavier) and she was 19 inches long. She has a shock of dark black hair, and deep, dark blue eyes. We're well established in the nursing, even if it does make mommy cry a bit right now and we're still learning the CDs
